Anthony Weiner announces NY governor bid in wake of Cuomo resignation

ALBANY, NY – In the wake of Anthony Cuomo’s resignation amid allegations of sexual misconduct, former New York congressman Anthony Weiner announced Wednesday that he will seek the gubernatorial seat vacated by the disgraced former Governor in a special election this November. “The citizens of New York deserve a governor free from scandal, who will work every day to improve the lives of New Yorkers,” said Weiner in a press release which also included a photograph of his genitalia. “If you give me the opportunity to govern this great state, I promise not to let you down,” added Weiner. Following Weiner’s announcement, former New York governor Eliot Spitzer announced that he too will be running for the seat he vacated in 2008, and former president Bill Clinton told reporters he is also considering a run.
