Pelosi injured in Oakland-area street fight

OAKLAND, CA – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 81, was taken to an area hospital on Wednesday after sustaining injuries in a street fight, according to a spokesperson from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. “We responded to a disturbance in the Fruitvale area about 10pm on Wednesday night,” explained the spokesperson. “When our officers arrived, we encountered a full-on turf battle underway between Nancy Pelosi and rival factions.” According to sources, Pelosi, who represents California’s 12th congressional district, entered Barbra Lee’s [13th] congressional district in order to intimidate her constituents. Shortly thereafter, the 17-term congresswoman was involved in hand-to-hand fighting with neighborhood residents while dozens of Lee’s constituents looked on. A statement released by the Speaker’s office confirms that Pelosi suffered a broken nose, sprained wrist, and several cuts and bruises, but is expected to make a full recovery.
